West Ham enter three-way Premier League transfer battle with £7m discount on the cards

EXCLUSIVE: West Ham are among several Premier League clubs eyeing up the same summer bargain.

West Ham are among a small group of Premier League teams keeping tabs on Portuguese international winger Jota Silva. Liga Portugal side Vitoria de Guimaraes would be willing to cash in on the 24-year-old for less than his release clause, despite his impressive scoring form this season.

Interest in Jota is ramping up as he approaches the final 12 months of his Vitoria contract. The wide man only made his top-flight debut last campaign, but he is already one of the division's standout attacking threats, with 16 goal contributions in 29 matches.

Express Sport understands that West Ham have, in recent weeks, sent scouts to watch Jota, who netted in an impressive 2-1 win at Porto earlier this month. Brighton and Fulham are also keeping a close eye on the player's situation as he prepares to leave his homeland this summer.

Jota, who won his first two caps for Portugal during the last international break, is keen on a move to the Premier League and has already expressed his desire to 'reach the top'.

Interest from the Hammers is still at an early stage with just under two months until the summer transfer window opens. Jota has a £17million release clause written into his Vitoria contract, but it is understood that the Portuguese side would be willing to knock around £7m off that price rather than risk losing him for free in 12 months' time.

Aston Villa are not currently among the front-runners for Jota's signature but the fact their owners also hold a stake in Vitoria could see them jump to the front of the queue if they find themselves in need of reinforcements out wide.

Wolves have also assessed the winger as part of their extensive Portuguese scouting network. Jota spent his early years in Portugal's lower leagues with the likes of Sousense, Espinho and Leixoes.

He could be the first of several overseas West Ham recruits if they appoint Sporting boss Ruben Amorim. The 39-year-old flew into London earlier this week for talks with the Hammers as links to the Liverpool hotseat go cold.

West Ham are on course for another top-half finish under David Moyes, who led them to Europa Conference League glory last season, but the Scot is expected to depart this summer.

Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus have each featured regularly out wide under Moyes this campaign. But space could be opened up for Jota if Said Benrahma joins Lyon permanently or if the sought-after Paqueta leaves the London Stadium.

Tim Steidten has decided who he wants to be West Ham United’s next manager after David Moyes

Milo Clay

TBR Football can confirm that Thomas Tuchel is someone of interest to West Ham – particularly their technical director Tim Steidten – who would love to bring him to the London Stadium.

The pair were due to work together at Chelsea before Thomas Tuchel departed in early 2023.

Tuchel himself is concentrating on ending the season with Bayern on a high – and that could yet result in a Champions League win.

Steidten would love to hire Thomas Tuchel

TBR understands that Tuchel is very keen to move back to England, after what has been a rather disappointing season back in his homeland.

He has contacted Liverpool and Manchester United but a move to West Ham is starting to emerge as a possibility, especially with Tim Steidten championing him.

Tuchel is set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, with Bayern closing in on a move for Ralf Rangnick to replace him.

With David Moyes looking increasingly likely to head out the door at the London Stadium, the 50-year-old has emerged as an option for the Hammers.

The former Chelsea boss delivered a Champions League title during his spell at Stamford Bridge and will be aiming to scoop his second with Bayern this term.
West Ham weighing up their options

TBR Football revealed on Tuesday that Ruben Amorim has not been offered the manager’s job at West Ham.

The Sporting CP boss and his agent held talks with West Ham officials, including Steidten, in London on Monday evening.

Elsewhere, the same intermediaries involved in talks over Amorim have put forward former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers are currently weighing up their options, with Fulham’s Marco Silva, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil, Lille’s Paulo Fonseca and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot all admired at the London Stadium.

The list of candidates is likely to excite West Ham supporters, with many growing frustrated over Moyes’ pragmatic brand of football this season.

Moyes has done an excellent job in east London after delivering a European trophy under 12 months ago.

But with his contract set to expire in June, his future remains uncertain and West Ham are assessing potential replacements.
